This work was part of a digital slide show at the Art Gallery of Ontario in an exhibition called, "Portraits of Resilience."
Regeneration
DETAIL 1: I cut organic gestural shapes from paper and collage them to the surface. after building up the paint, I use a reduction technique with an electric sander.
Regeneration
DETAIL 2: I cut out and paint paper organic shapes that I collage onto the wood panel. They remind me of hieroglyphs and sometimes they seem like other worldly creatures., so I refer to them as "characters."
